Description
A Handsome 18th Century Mahogany Longcase Clock with eight day movement by Jos. Gibson Ecclefechen. The 13 inch (33 cm) brass dial having a silver roundel to the arch engraved with maker’s name and foliate embellishments, flanked by finely cast scrolling gilt dolphin mounts, above a silvered chapter ring marked with Roman numerals to count the hours and an outer band of Arabic numeral five minute marks. The silvered centre incorporating a seconds dial, calendar aperture and ornamental engraving to the winding holes, with foliate Rococo scroll spandrels adorning the corners. The case having a domed cavetto moulded hood with gilt brass columns, a flame figured trunk door with shaped top and lip moulded edge, inlaid with a bone kite escutcheon. Standing 92½ in (235 cm) high.
