Description
A 17th Century Carved Oak Coffer. The twin-plank top with cleated ends and iron loop hinges. The triple panel front with chains of linked foliate-crested S-scrolls & punchwork adorning the frieze & base rails. The panels with foliate carved lozenge motifs either side on a central daisy wheel surrounded by geometric recessed bands enhanced with stain, and divided by moulded muntins with dog-tooth marquetry. The stile supports carved with rising trails of fruiting vine and having shaped spandrels to the corners. One muntin branded with initials RN, 29 in (74 cm) high, 48 in (122 cm) wide, 20 in (51 cm) in depth.
