A Pair of Fine Early 17th Century Arcaded Oak Panels, Netherlandish, Circa 1600. Each panel carved with a female figure dressed in flowing robes representing one of the five senses: The embodiment of ‘Smell’ depicted holding a floral spray with a cornucopia of cascading flowers to one side and a dog at her feet. ‘Taste’ depicted stood alongside a basket of fruit with an ape at her feet. The domed arches enriched with chains of overlapped scales raised on decorative pilasters; one pair of jewelled brick-work; the other studded strap-work, with carved embellishments to the upper corners. Set in later thin box frames, 15¾ ins x 13¾ ins (40 cm x 35 cm), and 15¾ ins x 13½ ins (40 cm x 34 cm).
