Description
A 19th Century Inlaid Rosewood Portico Clock displayed beneath a Glass Dome. The movement stamped Japy Frères, striking a bell. The white enamel dial framed by a relief cast gilt metal surround adorned with zoomorphic scrolls of trailing foliage entwined around a pair of female nudes either side, with a grotesque face mask to the base. The clock raised between four round turned columns inlaid with satinwood strings and capped with gilt collars of stiff leaves, flanking the decorative gridiron pendulum cast with a winged figure sat playing pan-pipes surrounded by renaissance style garnishment to the weight. The rectangular pediment and plinth inlaid with scrolling foliage. The glass dome set into a rounded oblong base on small turned feet, 25” (64 cm) in height.
