Description
A Large 16th Century French Carved Oak Coffer. The rectangular lid with cut in cleats above carved linenfold twin-panel sides, and a five paneled facade centred by an intricate iron lock-plate; the panels emblazoned with Romayne portraits relief carved in roundels raised on fluted urn shaped pedestals below pendant sprays of foliage; the centre panel shorter to accommodate the lock. The muntins and stiles adorned with carved pinnacles, 33” (84 cm) high, 66½” (166 cm) wide, 26” (66 cm) deep.
