A Primitive Welsh Wooden Panel inscribed ”1614 AM HYNNU GWYLIA” (translated as ”for that beware”) The carved inscription defined in recessed reserves pitted with punchwork above a fretted plate brass crown shaped mount. The panel having a serrated top flanked by roundel corners carved with sprigs; the bottom corners cut with trefoil leaf motifs. The bordered stamped with punchwork embellishments. 13½” x 11½” (34 cm x 29 cm). [The Museum of Wales suggests the panel might reflect the struggle between Catholics and Protestants in England and Wales at the time].
