A 16th Century Engraved Steel Nuremberg Casket of rectangular form. The hinged lid and all four sides elaborately etched with opposing full length male & female figures in arches framed by panels of scrollwork, and edged with applied bands of intricate meandering scrolls. The lid with swing handle and key opening to reveal a sprung lock mechanism embellished with further etched ornamentation. Standing on bun feet, 3¾” (9.5 cm) high (handle down), 7” (18 cm) wide, 4” (10.5 cm) deep.
