Description
A 17th Century Italian Walnut Side Cabinet. The one piece top above gadrooned moulding and an upper frieze housing two drawers. The drawers fitted with iron bifoil loop handles hanging below carved angel heads amidst zoomorphic scrolls flanked by relief carved face masks. The two large cupboard doors enriched with winged caryatids surrounded by lavish scrolls of foliage issuing acorns, berries and fruit, embellished with punchwork. The side pilasters carved as caryatids, with a bearded Atlante to the central divide. Standing on a gadrooned base with lion paw feet 46½” (118 cm) high, 63” (160 cm) wide, 23½” (60 cm) deep.
