An Early 17th Century Wrought Iron Nuremberg/Augsberg Strong Box of rare diminutive size The rectangular chest bound in studded scallop-edged straps with a shield shaped escutcheon to the front, swing handles to the sides and a pivoting strap to the top concealing the key hole. The replacement key turning to open the lid and revealing an intricate sprung locking mechanism within. Standing on scrolling apron with bracket feet adorned with pierced rosette appliqués to the front. 11” (28 cm) high, 14” (36 cm) wide, 7” 18 cm) deep.
