A 17th Century Charles I Oak Wainscot Chair of good colour & patination. The deep top rail enriched with foliate S-scrolls interspersed with small whorl bosses on a recessed pitted ground, and capped by an applied edging strip. The back panel carved with voluted stems coiled around flower-heads flanking a fanned carnation bloom to the centre dotted with whorls and enhanced by the recessed nail-pitted ground. The columnar arm supports leading down to a planked seat on run moulded rals and column legs united by peripheral stretchers, 38¾” (98.5 cm) high, 18½” (47 cm) seat height, 25” (64 cm) wide.
