Description
A Fine 19th Century French Fitted Nécessaire de Toilette Box by J.F Balon. The oval amboyna box inset with a brass rim band, lock-plate to the front below a lip handle to the lid, with an engraved monogrammed shield to the top. The interior with paper maker’s label inscribed ‘Balon, Fabc. de Nécessaires: Palais-Royal No.161, à Paris’ to the lid beneath a tooled green leather letter wallet, and an array of various silver mounted jars and bottles; two ebony cylindrical screw top containers, a small silver funnel and eye bath, with three tiers of implements in fitted lift-out trays to the front, including a silver handled toothbrush, scissors, bone handled picks, penknife etc. 4” (10 cm) in height, 9” x 5¾” (23 cm x 14.5 cm).
