Description
A Fabulous 16th Century European Oak Cupboard. The deep moulded cornice with egg & dart beading above pairs of panelled upper & lower cupboard doors. The door panels each enriched with repeated quadripartite parchment scrolls; the framed with chip carved channels. The central divide and sides adorned with carved pilasters incorporating fluted columns, caryatids bearing baskets of fruit, and guards either side, with traces of residual polychromy. The deep moulded base raised on canted protuberant feet surmounted by heraldic lions, 69¾ in (177 cm) high, 64 in (163 cm) wide, 27½ in (70 cm) deep.
