Description
An English 19th Century Empire Ormolu Mantel Clock. The movement striking a bell and housed in an intricately cast circular case inset with small round enamelled numeral plaques and surmounted by a ‘grid-iron’ pediment having a floral wreathed medallion to the top emblazoned with the bust of Jospeh Haydn, held between two winged cherubs knelt upon laurel entwined columns. The clock flanked by a male & female musician in Oriental costume standing on a rectangular plinth ornamented with a frieze of musicians playing beneath a swagged canopy to a couple dancing in the centre, and raised on face mask supports. 19¾” (50 cm) high, 15” (38 cm) wide.
