A Rare 15th Century German Minnekästchen Casket. The rectangular box of boarded construction carved all over with a mass of flowers & foliage, and mounted with iron strap hinges, hasp and corner brackets all adorned with decorative flower head terminals. The front fitted with a box lock , the lid with a swing handle, 3¼” (8 cm) high [handle down], 6½” (16.5 cm) wide, 4¼” (11 cm) deep.
