A 16th Century & Later Caqueteuse Armchair. The slender panel back carved with guilloche bands of linked rosettes enhanced with punch-work, surmounted by a pair of foliate crested sea-horses. The angled arms on turned posts above a moulded seat and tall column turned legs united by peripheral stretchers and terminating on bun feet, 45½” (116 cm) high, 23½” (60 cm) wide.
