Description
An Early 18th Century Queen Anne Japanned Secrètaire Cabinet enriched with raised gilt lacquered chinoiserie decoration on a black lacquered ground. The upper section having a cavetto moulded twin-dome top above two arch topped doors hung on engraved strap hinges with a large ornamental escutcheon to the centre opening to reveal a fine fitted interior. The two fall-front upper compartments above various sized drawers embellished with gilded figural scenes and framed by reeded moulding. The chest base housing a fitted secretaire drawer above three long graduated drawers fitted with brass swing handles on winged back plates and raised on turned bun feet, 78 in (198 cm) high, 40½ ins (103 cm) wide, 21 ins (53 cm) deep.
