Description
A Splendid Late 18th/Early 19th Century Dutch Walnut & Marquetry Bureau Bookcase, elaborately inlaid throughout with trailing flowers, foliate scrolls, birds and butterflies. The upper section having a shaped and moulded pediment surmounted by a foliate carved crest above two inlaid panel doors enclosing adjustable serpentine front shelves above three small drawers. The mid section with a sloped fall-front opening to reveal a fitted interior housing mirror front cabinet, pigeon holes, drawers and stepped side drawers with a sliding lid to the centre accessing the frieze compartment below, flanked by side drawers and loper supports. The rippled serpentine moulded base section accommodating two short over two long drawers flanked by shaped canted pilasters leading down to scroll terminals. 93 in (246 cm) overall height, 44 in (112 cm) wide, 23¾ in (60 cm) deep.
