A Rare Early Quaker Medallion Sampler, stitched in red on a linen ground with octagonal medallions and urns of flowers, incorporating dates 1780 & 1782 along with initials AC (the sewer), HS & ML. (These three sets of random initials match to pupils in the 1st year of Ackworth School’s existence when there were fewer than 100 girls attending) The side stitched by another hand with the later date 1815 SARA SWC, 17¼ in x 5 in (44 cm x 12.5 cm). Mounted in a modern glazed frame 20½ in x 8½ in (52 cm x 21.5 cm).
