Description
A Group of Carved Fragments: A 16th century muntin with pierced tenon to the top and panel grooves to the sides; the front carved with two flower heads above a diamond carved shield 18” x 9” (46 cm x 23 cm), 1½” (4 cm) thick. Three 17th century appliqués carved with lion heads, 10½” x 3” (27 c,m x 7.5 cm). A 17th century rail carved with undulating scrolls of seeding acanthus with a small bird harbouring amongst the foliage 5” x 25” (12.5 cm x 64 cm). And a Renaissance style panel richly carved with a horned facemask spewing zoomorphic stems of husk flowers, foliage and winged mythical creatures swagged in drapery, 15” x 9¾” (38 cm x 25 cm).
