Description
A Vienna Porcelain Plaque mounted in a carved giltwood frame. The circular plaque having a rectangular scenic panel painted in polychrome enamels with an allegorical sacrifice scene signed F. Denk and inscribed with title to base; ‘Opferung der Iphigenie’. The scene bordered by a puce band enriched with gilt leaves and raised beading, surrounded by scrolling foliate embellishments flanking decorative medallions on a pale blue ground, 14½” (37 cm) in diameter. The plaque set within a crimson crushed-velvet clad mount and square carved giltwood frame 20½” (52 cm) wide.
