Description
Two Fine 19th Century Maritime Momento Boxes of decoratively turned circular form. One having identically turned moulding surrounding a central boss to each side, opening to reveal a fine hand-scribed paper lining commencing; ‘This is a Piece of HM Ship Gibralter’ with details of it’s history ending; ‘She was taken to pieces in Pembroke Dock Yard 1836, 3¾” (9.5 cm) in diameter. The other having an intricate ring turned lid centred by a silvered roundel inscribed; ‘This Box is a part of HMS ROYAL GEORGE sunk August 1782 taken up by Dean 1826’, 3¼” (8 cm) in diameter.*
