Description
Two Antique Turned Treen Candlesticks: An 18th Century example, possibly yew-wood; the cylindrical rolled sheet metal candle socket on a flat metal drip pan with crimped edge nailed to a turned circular platform above a tall knopped baluster stem and moulded circular foot, 16½ in (42 cm) in height. [From The Sam Wolsey Collection, marked with inventory numbers]. A Late 18th/Early 19th Century example with moulded candle-cup above a central stem entwined in two spiralling bines leading down to a rounded turned foot, 10 in (25 cm) in height.
