The lavish pyrographic decoration silhouetted against a recessed mesh punched background, defining figural scenes, townships and sailing ships in bays framed by broad borders of heraldic beasts flanking crests to the tops, urns cascading flowers, scrolling foliage and mythical beasts. The principal panel featuring Sol with crown of sunrays stood astride the harbour entrance beneath banner inscribed COLOSSO DEL SOL, 26¼” x 18¾” (66.5 cm x 73 cm). The side panels 26¼” x 17½” (66.5 cm x 44.5 cm).
