A Fine Early 20th Century French Silver Plated Duck Press by Cailar, Bayard & Cie, Paris. The culinary apparatus invented in France during the 1800's by the eminent chef Mechenet, having a screw thread press with bar handle to the top, driving a flat disk into a removal pot with drainer encased by a dome topped vessel with hinged sides and draining spout. The case elevated on the heads of two elephants above splayed elephantine legs leading down to a rectangular base, stamped with makers marks to the base and hallmarks to the body, numbered '69914'.
