    An 18th Century French Leather-clad Box of rectangular form with slightly domed lid. The tooled leather cladding decorated with geometric strapwork and having a decorative fretted brass escutcheon to the front. The interior lined in marbled paper, 4¼ in (11 cm) high, 14¼ in (36 cm) wide, 4¼ in (11 cm) deep.

    An 18th Century Domed Topped Casket clad in tooled leather decorated with geometric strapwork, and having a brass swing handle to the lid and brass hook catches on petalled mounts to the front either side on a winged escutcheon, 4½ in (11.5 cm) high [handle down], 10¾ in (27 cm) wide, 5 in (13 cm) deep.

The stems with mid-height squat ball knops above sliding candle adjusters, peened into domed octagonal bases, 8 in (20 cm) in height. [A very similar example illustrated in 'Making Fire & Light in the home pre-1820' by John Caspall, page 109, Fig 215].
