    A 17th Century Walnut Armchair with leather upholstery edged in decorative brass studs, circa 1680. The rectangular padded back having a shaped oak cresting rails and stuffed side wings. The arms clad in leather with reeded scroll terminals on reel turned supports leading down to the upholstered seat. The reel-turned legs joined by a matching turned front stretchers and H-form under-stretcher with block feet raised on turned toes. A very similar sleeping-chair is illustrated in Chinnery's OAK FURNITURE The British Tradition, page 256 Figure 3:61.

    A 17th Century Joined Oak Table/Chair. The planked top measuring 29½ x 24½ ins (75 cms x 62 cms) pivoted on one side to form the back panel and resting on the rounded-end arms with baluster turned posts leading down to the single plank seat and similarly turned legs joined by an under-shelf below a guilloché carved seat rail.

    A 17th Century Joined Oak Chest. The lift-up lid on iron staple hinges having a moulded edge and measuring 41 ins x 19½ ins (104 cms x 50 cms). The front having a carved frieze of undulating flowers and foliage centred by a shield-shaped cartouche above two edge-moulded horizontal panels flanking a broad muntin enriched with a carved crown and a foliated half daisy-wheel, and three vertical panels below, standing on block stiles 29 ins (74 cms) in height.

    A Large & Imposing 17th Century Joined Oak Coffer of good colour and patination. The heavy planked top measuring 81½ ins x 29 ½ ins (207 cms x 75 cms) on iron strap hinges with wooden ratchet supports each end. The carved and punch-worked front having foliated S-scrolls to the frieze above four horizontal upper panels divided by floriate muntins, and five panels below enriched with lozenge motifs centred by daisy wheels, between lunette carved rails. Standing on stiles ornamented with chains of ball flowers linked by guilloché bands, 33½ ins (85 cms) in height.

    A Fine 17th Century Boarded Oak Coffer of small proportions. The hinged lid having a moulded edge and measuring 40 ins x 14 ins (102 cms x 36 cms) with iron repairs, straps hinges, hasp & lock plate. The front decoratively carved with three lunettes of radiating petals stamped with punchwork ornamentation & outlined in fluting above a broad band of nulling. Standing on plank sides, 19½ ins (50 cms) in height.

    A Fine Mid 17th Century Inlaid Oak Cabinet in two sections. The upper section fitted with two long side hung drawer profusely inlaid with scrolling foliage depicted in penworked bone and mother-of-pearl. The shallow upper drawer with cabochon appliqués either side. The deep lower drawer with three protuberant cushion-front geometrically moulded panels; the divides embellished with split spindle turnings and fretted ornamentation reflected on the two doors of the lower cupboard section. The moulded base raised on bun feet, 44 ins (109 cms) wide, 25 ins (64 cms) deep and 49½ ins (126 cms) tall.

    A Large 17th Century Carved Spanish Coffer. The heavy edge-moulded lid measuring 67 ins x 21 ins (170 cms x 53 cms) on staple hinges. The front carved with sunburst face-masks and stylized foliage with through dovetail joints to the plain plank sides above a moulded frieze base ornamented with chip carved roundels encircling birds and geometric designs with a shaped lower edge, 31½ is (80 cms) in height.

    A 16th Century Italian Walnut Cassone Circa 1520 enhanced with gilding and carved in relief with nymphs riding in the backs on Tritons in two front panels flanking a polychromed armorial shield with caryatids either side and pendant fruit garlands hung from lion masks in-between. The front corners adorned with protuberant figures of Tritons;their coiled tails above dolphin head supports (rear supports replaced). The sides carved with eagle-headed sea-horses defined against a gilded sky . The interior fitted with a tin liner (lacking lid), 66 ins x 20½ ins (168 cms x 52 cms) and 23 ins (58 cms) in height.

The moulded top measuring 72 ins x 18 ins (183 cms x 46 cms) above three edge moulded frieze drawers and a well-shaped apron raised on cabriole front legs; the hips accentuated by curved sweeps and standing on pointed pad feet with square legs to the back.

    A 19th Century Continental Carved Oak Box on Stand. The hinged lid having two recessed panels of scrolling linen fold. The front adorned with a relief carved amorino's head with spread wings flanked by lion masks. Raised on four bulbous turned legs and squat bun feet united by a wavy X-form stretcher, 24 ins (61 cms) wide, 16 ins (41 cms) deep and 31½ ins (80 cms) tall. From Sir Alistair Graham's Collection, Lower Old Hall, Norland.
