The curved slatted X-frames intricately carved with scrolling foliate strap-work interspersed with inlaid mother of pearl geometric flower heads. The crested toprails with open diamond panels infilled with decorative turned spindles. 40 ins (102 cms) in height.

    A Fine Late 19th Century Ceylonese Matara Porcupine Quill Writing Box of rectangular form. The box clad in bands of quills within a frame of ebonised wood inlaid with bone dots. The lid rising to reveal an elaborately decorated interior with a hexagon of exotic timber segments to the lid's interior centred by an engraved elephant roundel and enhanced with chevron banding, amidst dotted scrolls of flowers and foliage. The compartmented section housing an ebony rule , pentray and ink partitions, above a velvet lined writing slope. 6¼ in (16 cm) high, 16 in (41 cm) wide, 9 in (23 cm) deep.
